Akkala Sami[edit]

Etymology[edit]

A compound with the first part somehow connected to Old Norse igða (small bird), either from Proto-Germanic *ewwadjǭ or from a common North Germanic/Scandinavian substrate. For the second part, compare Skolt Sami ceeʒʒaž (chickadee), from *cicāńčë (small bird).
