Etymology[edit]

From Danish aflive. Cognate of Swedish avliva, Icelandic aflífa, Dutch aflijven and German ableiben.

Verb[edit]

avlive (imperative avliv, present tense avliver, passive avlives, simple past and past participle avliva or avlivet, present participle avlivende)

  1. (usually relating to animals) to euthanize, to kill
  2. to refute (e.g. lies, rumors etc.)
