Via other European languages, ultimately borrowed from Ancient Greek Φαραώ (Pharaṓ), from Hebrew פַּרְעֹה (par‘ōh), from Egyptian pr-ꜥꜣ (palace, pharaoh, literally pr (house) + ꜥꜣ (great, big)).
