Romanian[edit]

Etymology 1[edit]

Inherited from Latin gutta. The second meaning of "paralysis" may have developed separately and seems to coincide with other Eastern European language cognates such as gota, which may have influenced it.

Noun[edit]

gută f (plural gute)

  1. (regional, Banat) drop, small quantity
    Synonym: picătură
  2. (regional, Transylvania) paralysis
    Synonym: paralizie
Declension[edit]

Etymology 2[edit]

Borrowed from French goutte, from Latin gutta (as in the etymology of the inherited word above).

Noun[edit]

gută f (plural gute)

  1. (pathology) gout
    Synonym: podagră
Declension[edit]
