A calque of German Intelligenzquotient. Coined in 1912 by German psychologist William Stern.

intelligence quotient (plural intelligence quotients)
- A score derived from one of several different standardized tests attempting to measure a person's intelligence relative to that of the general population, with the average usually calibrated to a number around 100.
