Etymology[edit]

From a past participle of a verb derived from Latin venēnum, or from a Vulgar Latin *invenenātus, from Latin venenātus, perfect passive participle of venenō. Compare Venetian invełenà, Romanian înveninat, Italian avvelenato, Spanish envenenado.
