From Proto-Bahnaric *ɟəːŋ ~ *ɟɨŋ, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɟuŋ ~ *ɟuəŋ ~ *ɟəŋ (leg, foot). Cognate with Cua ɟoːk, Khmer ជើង (cəəng), Mon ဇိုၚ်, Vietnamese chân, Riang [Lang] cɔŋ², Semai juk.
