Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Polynesian *kolomatuqa (compare with Tahitian ʻorometua, Samoan loʻomatua)[1] from Proto-Polynesian *kaumatuqa[2] related to Proto-Polynesian *matuqa, analyzed as koro + mātua. Doublet of kaumātua.
