Etymology[edit]
Analogous to Ancient Greek μελαγχολία (melankholía), from mall (“longing”), originally meaning "black" and ngjej, archaic variant of ngjyrë (“color”), from Proto-Albanian *en-glejo. Alternatively from Latin malum angere.[1]
