Etymology[edit]
From nb-mꜣꜥt (“possessor of righteousness/truth”) + rꜥ, a nominal sentence meaning ‘Ra is the possessor of righteousness/truth’. Contemporary cuneiform transcriptions of the name include Akkadian 𒉌𒅁𒈬𒀀𒊑𒀀 (ni-ib-mu-a-ri-a) and Hurrian 𒉌𒅎𒈬𒌋𒊑𒄿𒀸 (ni-im-mu-u-ri-i-a[š] /nimmōrīa-/).

Bork (Mitannisprache, S. 14ff.) hat nun wahrscheinlich gemacht, daß im Subaräischen das Zeichen 𒌋 = u stets den Vokal *o ausdrückt, im Gegensatz zu 𒌑 = ú, das *u zu lesen sei. Damit würde Nb-mꜣꜥ.t-rꜥ für das Neue Reich etwa als *Nibmōꜥarīꜥa zu rekonstruieren sein.
