From Proto-Albanian *pitšā, suggested to be from Proto-Indo-European *píts-ih₂ ~ *pits-yéh₂, from *pī́ts (resin) +‎ *-ih₂, cognate with Ancient Greek πίσσα (píssa, pitch, resin).[1][2][3]
