From Proto-Finno-Ugric *rakka (near; to approach). Compare Hungarian rokon (relative), or alternatively a borrowing from Proto-Germanic *frakaz or Proto-Slavic *dorgъ (compare Serbo-Croatian drag and Russian дорогой (dorogoj)).
