From Proto-Balto-Slavic [Term?],[1] from Proto-Indo-European *HrewdH-.[1] Cognate with Latvian raudāt,[1] Russian рыда́ть (rydátʹ),[1] Old English rēotan (to weep; to complain)[1] and Sanskrit रोदिति (roditi, to weep).[1]
