From Latin ēricius (hedgehog). Cognate with Italian riccio. Doublet of rizza.

rizzu m (plural rizzi)

  1. hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus)
    fari comu lu rizzuto deceive with humble manners, to then betray or assault (literally, “to act like the hedgehog”)
