Plurale tantum; plural of *rodhë, from Proto-Albanian *wrādzā, from Proto-Indo-European *wreh₂ǵʰ- (“thorn”) (compare Ancient Greek ῥᾱχός (rhākhós, “thornbush; wattled fence”), Lithuanian rǎžas (“dry stalk, stubble; prong”), Middle Irish fraig (“needle”)).
