Uncertain. Perhaps from Vulgar Latin *trosciare, from Lombardic *trausjan (“precipitate (referred to water)”), cognate with Gothic 𐌲𐌰𐌳𐍂𐌰𐌿𐍃𐌾𐌰𐌽 (gadrausjan). Compare Italian scroscio.
