Uncertain. Perhaps from Vulgar Latin *trosciare, from Lombardic *trausjan (precipitate (referred to water)), cognate with Gothic 𐌲𐌰𐌳𐍂𐌰𐌿𐍃𐌾𐌰𐌽 (gadrausjan). Compare Italian scroscio, Piedmontese scrussi.
