Aromanian[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Uncertain, but probably of Slavic origin; compare Romanian strai (clothing, garment), which may or may not be the same word, but is likely related. Cf. Slovene srajca (shirt), Serbo-Croatian tranja (rag, tatters). Alternatively from a Vulgar Latin *sternium, or from Latin stramen.

Noun[edit]

stranjiu n (plural stranji/stranje)

  1. clothing, garment, garb, clothes
