Old Javanese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Unknown, probably affixed ta- +‎ *ruh, which came from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ruh (to fall, be shed), hence doublet of tĕḍuh (quiet, calm). Cognate of Indonesian teduh.
