Norwegian Nynorsk[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From tyri (fatwood) +‎ hjelm (helmet). There are used dialectal forms of this word starting with fur- and tørr-, so it is not clear what was the original form. Today, however, the form starting with tyri- is more common. [1]

Noun[edit]

tyrihjelm m (definite singular tyrihjelmen, indefinite plural tyrihjelmar, definite plural tyrihjelmane)

  1. Aconitum, a genus of plants in the family Ranunculaceae.
