viro +‎ -iĉo

viriĉo (accusative singular viriĉon, plural viriĉoj, accusative plural viriĉojn)

  1. (rare, neologism) male, man

Usage notes[edit]

Viriĉo is not used by everyone who uses the neologistic suffix -iĉo, as the root is fundamentally masculine in Esperanto morphology (derived vira means 'masculine', for example), and speakers may instead contrast masculine viro 'man' with feminine femo or femino 'woman'. For a male human being that is not necessarily an adult, iĉo or occasionally homiĉo may be used.
