Etymology[edit]
Partial calque of Russian бе́лый аму́р (bélyj amúr) for the same fish, as also sometimes black amur has been used for чёрный аму́р (čórnyj amúr, “Mylopharyngodon piceus”).

- A freshwater fish species of the family Cyprinidae (Ctenopharyngodon idella), the grass carp, native to Asia from Vietnam to the Amur River.
