From Javanese wreda, wredha (ꦮꦽꦢ, ꦮꦽꦣ, old), from Old Javanese wṛddha, wrĕdah (full-grown, experienced, wise), from Sanskrit वृद्ध (vṛddha, old). Doublet of berida.
