Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *dis-banja, prefixed form of *banja (to appear), whence modern bëj (to do, make; (dial.) appear). Related to Sanskrit भाति (bhāti, to shine), Old Irish bán (white).[1] Reanalyzable as z- + bëj.
