French
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Middle French âge, from Old French aage, eage, edage, from Vulgar Latin *aetāticum, derived from Latin aetātem.
The transition from aé to aage was done by the addition of the suffix -age, apparently because the first form was too short; aé + -age.

Audio: (file) - Rhymes: -ɑʒ
- Homophones: âges (general), age, ages (some speakers)
