Etymology
[edit]Beekes suggests a Pre-Greek origin due to the presence of variations and rejects a derivation from κυέω (kuéō). Possibly connected to Classical Syriac ܓܘܡܐ (gūmā), Jewish Babylonian Aramaic גוגמא, גגמא (“bean”).
