See περῐοδεύω (periodeúō, I go round), from περι- (peri-, peri-, around) +‎ ὁδεύω (hodeúō, to go, travel), the latter a denominal verb from ὁδός (hodós, road, street). By surface analysis, περι- (peri-) +‎ ὁδός (hodós) +‎ -ικός (-ikós).
