- Among Greek musicians and dancers the french word and pronunciation is more common.
- Obsolete spelling, seen at old Greek scores: πολωναίζα (πολωνικός (polonikós) πολων- + ‑αίζα, a closer transliteration of French ‑aise from polonaise). Considered as misspelling.
- The rare phonetic spelling πολονέζα is considered as misspelling.
