Etymology

Learnedly, from Ancient Greek ψευδομάρτυς (pseudomártus) from the accusative singular ψευδομάρτυρα (pseudomártura). [1] Morphologically, ψευδο- (psevdo-, pseudo-, lying) +‎ μάρτυρας (mártyras, witness).
