[edit]From a Uralic (most likely Permic or Ugric) source: compare Udmurt пожий (požij), Northern Mansi па̄сиг (pāsig, “young deer”) (both ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *péḱu (“cattle”)).
Cognate with Tatar поши (poşi, “Alces alces”).
