Etymology[edit]

From от- (ot-) and -лѣкъ (-lěkŭ). The latter stems from Proto-Indo-European *loykʷ-, the o-grade of Proto-Indo-European *leykʷ-. Cognate to Lithuanian ãt-laikas, Ancient Greek λείπω (leípō), Latin linquo, Proto-Germanic *līhwaną.
