Cognate with Kyrgyz жоолук (jooluk), Kazakh жаулық (jaulyq), Azerbaijani yaylıq, Crimean Tatar yavluq, cavlıq, Turkish yağlık (“kerchief, shawl”), Chuvash ҫулӑк (śulăk, “shawl worn by a groom”), etc.
