From Aramaic עִזָּא (ʿezzā); compare Akkadian 𒍚 (, enzu [ÙZ]), Arabic عَنْز (ʕanz), Hebrew עֵז (ʿēz), and Ugaritic 𐎓𐎇 (ʿz).
