Borrowed from Classical Persian فکر (fikr), from Arabic فِكْر (fikr). First attested as Old Hindi फिकरि (phikari). Compare Gujarati ફિકર (phikar), Marathi फिकीर (phikīr), Punjabi ਫ਼ਿਕਰ (fikar).
