[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀣𑁄𑀕 (thoga, “a little”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit स्तोक (stoká, “drop, dot”). First attested as Old Gujarati थोव (thova, “gradually”).[1] Cognate with Hindustani تھوڑا / थोड़ा (thoṛā), Marwari थोड़ो (thoṛo), Marathi थोडे (thoḍe), Punjabi تھوڑا (thoṛā) / ਥੋੜਾ (thoṛā), and Sindhi ٿورو (thoro).
