Old Georgian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Kartvelian *qoqob-, which is probably Onomatopoeic in origin. Ancient Greek sources mention the abundance of pheasants in Kingdom of Colchis.

Svan ჴოჴუ̂ებ (qoqûeb) might be borrowed from Georgian.

ჴოჴობი (qoqobi)

  1. pheasant

Descendants[edit]

  • Georgian: ხოხობი (xoxobi)
