From Old Georgian ჴოჴობი (qoqobi), from Proto-Kartvelian *qoqob-. Cognate with Mingrelian ხოხობი (xoxobi) and Svan ჴოჴუ̂ებ (qoqûeb), although the latter might be borrowed from Georgian.
