Possibly from Cantonese 檸檬/柠檬 (ning4 mung4-1, “lemon”) or Teochew 檸檬/柠檬 (nam5 mong2, “lemon”). Compare Mandarin 檸檬/柠檬 (níngméng, “lemon”).
