Etymology 1[edit]
Perhaps from Mandarin 屌子 (diǎozi, “penis”) under influence of 보지 (boji, “vagina”). The form is attested only in the contemporary era when Standard Korean had palatalized /ti/, so this hypothesis cannot be proven for sure.
