From Akkadian ๐’€€๐’‡‰๐’Œ“๐’„’๐’‰ฃ (รDPurattu), itself from Sumerian ๐’€€๐’‡‰๐’Œ“๐’„’๐’‰ฃ (รDBuranun). Developed into *hUfrฤtuลก (literally โ€œhaving good fordsโ€) through folk etymology.[1]
