From Proto-Tungusic *ŋinakin. Cognate with Manchu ᡳᠨᡩᠠᡥᡡᠨ (indahūn), Orok ни̇на (nịna), Nanai и̇нда (ịnda), and Evenki ӈинакин (ŋinakin).
