Fabricated by ancient grammarians as the full form of contracted ζῶ (), but this is truly from ζώω (zṓō), from Proto-Hellenic *ďṓwō, from *gʷyṓwō, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷyéh₃woh₂. Doublet of βῐόω (bióō).
