From Old East Slavic дългота (dŭlgota), from Proto-Slavic *dьlgota. By surface analysis, до́ўгі (dóŭhi) +‎ -ата́ (-atá). Cognate with Russian долгота́ (dolgotá), Ukrainian довгота́ (dovhotá).
