Borrowed or mirrored from Russian насеко́мое (nasekómoje, insect), a calque of Latin īnsectum (insected creature). Technically a substantivized present passive participle of насе́ка (naséka, to disect, to chop into pieces) +‎ -ом (-om) +‎ (-o).
