Tajik[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Unknown, but thought to be related to colloquial Dari کتی (katē, katī), with the same meaning (used mainly in southern Afghanistan).

Both terms are suggested to be from a Turkic language, but there is little consensus on the matter.
