Old Armenian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *néh₂us. A borrowing from the Iranian descendant of the same is formally possible (compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (nʾw /nāw/)), but the native origin is more likely.
