Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Turkic *īŕteg,[1] from *īŕte- (“to seek, to pursue”). Cognates with Turkish istek. Also, Compare to Kyrgyz издөө (izdöö), Southern Altai истеер (isteer), etc.
