Etymology

From Arabic بِٱلسَّيْفِ (bi-s-sayfi, literally with the sword). Equivalent to ب (b, with) +‎ سيف (sīf, sword).

    خلصت عليه بالسيف حيت كان ديما كيخلص علي ملي كانت حازقة علي.
    ḵallaṣt ʕlīh b-es-sīf ḥīt kān dīma kayḵallaṣ ʕliyya milli kānit ḥāzqa ʕliyya.
    I paid for him by force because he was always paying for me when I was broke.
