Borrowed from Arabic صَيْدَا (ṣaydā), from Classical Syriac ܨܰܝܕ݁ܳܢ (ṣaydon), itself from Phoenician 𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤍 (ṣydwn /⁠ṣīdūn⁠/).
