Etymology

According to Monchi-Zadeh, the basic meaning is "small hard ball" and is borrowed from a Northeastern Iranian language: compare Pashto ځغاله (źəǧālá, small lump of dough).[1]

Compare also Armenian կաղաղ (kaġaġ), ցոգոլ (cʻogol).
