From Aramaic שְׁתַעְסַר (štaʿəsar). Equivalent to ܐܸܫܬܵܐ (ištā, six) +‎ ܥܸܣܪܵܐ (ʿisrā, ten); compare Arabic سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ (sittata ʕašara) and Hebrew שִׁשָּׁה עָשָׂר (shishá 'asár).
